Safe & Secure Facility
Your peace of mind comes first at American Mini Storage. The property is fully gated with entry restricted to tenants and authorised staff, watched by 24/7 digital video surveillance, and built to local fire code. Individual cylinder locks are available to rent or buy.
Built for an Alaskan Winter
Building A is heated, which is where anything cold-sensitive belongs from first freeze to breakup. Furniture, electronics, paperwork, instruments, and appliances all do better with heat than without. The other buildings are unheated, indoor or drive-up, at a lower rate.
Easy Storage Solutions
Access runs 24 hours, so you are never working around an office. Over 540 units across 74,596 square feet, from a 5x5 up to a 10x30, plus outdoor parking for 28 vehicles up to 25 feet and 27 forty-foot spots. Leases are month to month.
Secure Boat Storage in Palmer, AK
The Valley has water in every direction. Wasilla Lake, Finger Lake, Big Lake, Nancy Lake, and the Knik River all pull boat traffic through Palmer from breakup to freeze-up.
The season is short and the winter is not. That leaves most people looking at a trailer in the driveway from September through May, which is where we come in.
American Mini Storage has outdoor parking sized for boats on trailers. Twenty-eight spots take rigs up to 25 feet, and 27 forty-foot spots handle anything longer, the same spaces we use for RV storage. We are halfway between Palmer and Wasilla off the George Parks Highway, seven or eight miles either direction.
The lot is gated with entry restricted to tenants and authorised staff, watched by 24/7 video surveillance, and access runs 24 hours. An early launch does not mean waiting on an office to open.
If you would rather keep canvas, cushions, electronics, and life jackets somewhere dry over the winter, Building A is heated and a small unit alongside your parking spot is a cheap way to protect the soft gear.

Gated outdoor parking for boats on trailers, with heated units for the gear that comes off them.

How to Prepare Your Boat for Storage
A Valley winter is hard on a boat that was put away wet. An afternoon of preparation now saves a weekend of work in spring.
- Wash the hull and rinse salt or silt off the trailer
- Pull the drain plug and leave it out for the season
- Drain the bilge, the livewell, and the engine block completely
- Flush the engine with fresh water, then fog it
- Change the lower unit oil before it sits
- Fill the fuel tank and add stabilizer to limit condensation
- Remove electronics, safety gear, cushions, and canvas
- Take the battery home or store it in a heated unit
- Grease the trailer bearings and check tire pressure
- Put moisture absorbers in the cabin if you have one
- Fit a breathable cover rather than a tarp that traps water
- Lock the coupler and keep the spare keys at home

Sizing and Fit
What size space do I need for my boat?
Measure bow to stern with the trailer tongue included, then add a few feet of working room. We have spots up to 25 feet and 40-foot spots for anything longer.
Can you take a boat on a tandem trailer?
Yes. The 40-foot spots handle longer rigs, including a boat still hitched to a truck.
Is there a height limit?
No. Outdoor parking has no height limit, so a tower or a hardtop is not a problem.
Can I store the boat in an enclosed unit instead?
Sometimes, depending on length and door clearance. Call and we will check before you book.
Access and Security
What are the access hours?
24 hour access to your space. The office is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and closed weekends.
Is the lot gated?
Yes. Gated with entry restricted to tenants and authorised employees, and 24/7 video surveillance across the property.
Can I get in early for a launch?
Yes. Access runs 24 hours, so there is no window to work around.
Is the parking surface paved or gravel?
Call us and we will tell you exactly what you are parking on.
Rules and Requirements
Do I need registration and insurance?
Plan on providing current registration and proof of insurance for the boat and trailer.
Can I work on the boat on site?
The property is for storage, not maintenance or repair work.
Is there power for a trickle charger?
Spaces are not set up for customer electrical use. Take the battery home or store it in a heated unit.
Can I store fuel or a spare tank separately?
Loose fuel containers are not allowed in units. Fuel in the boat's own tank is fine.
Pricing and Terms
How much is boat storage in Palmer?
Current rates by size show on this page. Rates move with availability.
Is it month to month?
Yes. No long-term contract, so you can store for one winter or several.
Can I add a heated unit for my gear?
Yes. A small heated unit alongside your parking spot is a common pairing. Ask us when you book.
